Beauty Finds

I have a confession:

I am not the biggest foundation wearer. *gasp*

It's true...it really is.

It's usually too heavy and it makes my skin feel stiff and unnatural. When I do wear it, my t-zone is so oily that it tends to slide off and then I leave foundation all over the place. Trust me, it’s a mess. But I like the look of it when I do wear, how it makes my skin look flawless and a little more refined…smooth…pretty. Due to this fact, I’ve been on the lookout for a replacement. Something that I could wear everyday and not feel as if I’m in a mask. The closet I've found is the mousse foundation from Cover Girl. But to be honest, its not an everyday thing for me and I wanted more.

While in Macy’s the other day, I came across the MAC counter and this little tube of BB cream:

I decided to give it a whirl. It went on smooth and had a nice finish to it that I felt was close to wearing a hard core foundation. It didn’t feel as stiff as most foundations that I've tried and set to a nice finish. I still though, found it to be a bit heavy, but not as bad. I could see myself wearing this on a day to day basis though, which makes it worth the $30 that I spent on it.

I found the brush at Ulta and it helps in giving that nice smooth finish that one finds with foundation.

On a side note…how does one keep it from rubbing off on everything?

I have seen this eye cream all over YouTube for months now, but haven't had the chance to try it out. The other day, while in Ulta, I saw they had installed a benefit store. Perfect time to try this stuff out. They didn’t have a full jar, but the Benefit clerk was nice enough to give ma small sample to try out. According to her, it’s potent, so this little jar may last me a while. Now, I don’t have dark circles or fine lines yet…but I really don’t want them anytime either. So, I’m going to give this a try. I was using the Oil of Olay roller ball, but I ran out and wanted to try something new. So…we shall see how this goes.

Find of the day

The week before Christmas, I did a little retail therapy. I had some coupons and I was in the mood for something…girly. Not really sure what, but I had a feeling that I was going to know it when I saw it.
I went to my local Charming Charlie to see what I had missed in the past few weeks. I’m not sure how widespread this store is, but it’s a fabulous little accessories store that also sells clothes.

Check out the site to see what they have: www.charmingcharlie.com

Anyways, strolling through the store, this little number caught my eye:

Isn’t the gold detailing gorgeous? It’s a pretty blush color and the gold studs give it just enough edge to keep it from being too sweet. Also, the neckline is not joke and I think my next stop is to head to VS and see what they have to give me the added oomph I need.

Finally!

I wrote a while back about wanting to find a sweater dress. To say that I have been on the hunt for one is an understatement. Every store I went into, if it had something close, I was trying it on. Finally, the other day in H&M…

I FOUND IT!

A sweater dress that is comfy, cute and just the right color. I wore it a few days ago with some gray tights and I have to say…I felt sexy. Just the right weight and with enough room to be comfortable. The last sweater dress I bought either shrunk or was never the right looseness when I first bought it, but I still suffered through wearing it because…it was a pain in the ass to keep trying to find another one.

It’s not quite a black color…more like navy or a dark blue. Still cute for the winter though and versatile enough to go with some boots or flats.

Now…to see if it comes in other colors.

Bargain of the day!

I love after Christmas sales. You can smell the desperation in the air as the stores try to sell of last year’s wares and make room for the new stuff; the eagerness of shoppers to buy things they don’t really need because they want to get the best deal. The anxiety of people trying to return a thing before it’s too late and they have to keep it…It’s great. It really is.  So yesterday, I was in the middle of the throngs, doing my own shopping, when I happened into The Gap. I haven’t been into the store in ages, but I though what the hey, why not? The boyfriend was being angsty, wanting to buy something but not taking my advice and refusing to try anything on. As if stuff will just magically appear if you whine enough.  *eye roll*  Anyways, I hit the clearance rack, pretty sure I was not going to find anything…until I saw this little number DSCF0341
(the picture does not do it justice until you try it on.)
And the price tag DSCF0343 Who in their right mind is going to pass this up?  I had to try it on to make sure, but it fit well and it was cute. This can go from summer to winter with some basic accessories like tights and boots or some cute flats during spring and summer. A nice easy fabric, you know I took it home.
